Hello! I’m Michelle - wife, mother of boys, and fine artist specializing in working while my children sleep ;) I am predominantly a landscape oil painter, working out of my home studio in Minneapolis, MN. I have a BA in studio art and decided to re-commit to a consistent creative practice after the birth of my second child. I had fallen out of the regular practice of any type of creative outlet and was deeply missing it. I started out selling prints of past work and doing some new drawings and illustrations. For awhile I had the self-imposed limiting belief that being an oil painter with small children was totally crazy, but I realized that was what I really wanted to be doing, so I did it anyways. It turned out that with a little research and creativity, it is 100% possible. I am so glad to have reconnected with oils and am excited to share my work with you!

My inspiration is drawn largely from time spent in nature, especially with my family. The majority of my work is based on my own reference photos and memories, trying to convey the same feelings I felt while being in those moments. I have really tried to practice savoring and being fully present in these moments. This allows me to tuck the memories away in my mind to revisit. I am in love with light and color and texture, and I thank God that I was given the ability to convey them on canvas and share them with you. I hope that my art can bring peace and joy into your space. Art can give homes such a personal, unique touch, and I truly appreciate when you choose my work for yours.
